In this post, you will learn how to configure or set up the Yoast SEO plugin properly for your WordPress blog.
1. Install the Yoast SEO plugin
First, install and activate the Yoast SEO plugin.
2. Yoast SEO General Features settings
Go to the General Settings, and click on the Features tab –
- SEO analysis – ON
- Readability analysis – ON
- Cornerstone content – ON
- Text link counter – OFF
- XML sitemaps – ON (If you are using other plugins to create a sitemap, you can disable it.)
- Admin bar menu – OFF
- Security – ON
- Usage tracking – OFF
- REST API – ON
- Enhanced Slack sharing – ON
Click Save changes.
3. Search Appearance Settings
Go to the Search Appearance.
Change the Home page Title and Description.
Scroll Down, and in the Knowledge Graph & Schema.org select the site represents > enter the Organization name or select the user > upload your site logo > Save Changes.
Remove the page variable from the SEO title of Post content types.
Scroll Down, and add the Excerpt variable into the meta description of page content type.
Remove the Archives word and page variable from the title of category type of taxonomy, and then add the Excerpt variable into the meta description.
After that, scroll down and set the NO to the Show Tags and Formats in search results?
In the Archives section, disable the Author and Date archives, and then click Save Changes.
4. Social Settings
If you have social media accounts, then go to the social settings and add your social profile URLs and click save changes.
